Meet Mary Catherine
Hello! My name is Mary Catherine Gillespie Smiley and I am so happy you are here!
I launched Gillespie Business Services in June 2023 as a homeage to my late father, who was also a CPA and notary. I was about to get married and wanted an impactful way to honor him, even when my last name was no longer Gillespie.
I have a bachelors (2018) and a masters (2019) degree in accounting from Louisiana State University. I completed the CPA exam in 2019 and was officially certified in June 2020. I passed the Louisiana Notary Public exam in September 2021 and was certified that November. I worked as a public company auditor and now work in the governmental sector.
My goal with Gillespie Business Services is to foster relationships while providing the upmost client experience. Whether it’s an individual 1040 tax return, or a full on bookkeeping gig, I aim for my clients to feel like they have a full-time employee working for them.

Bookkeeping
Journal entries and financial statements can be such a pain, right? Not to me! Bookkeeping is my passion project. I can either do a manual system, or get you set up on Quickbooks and either stick around to do filings and reconciliations, or teach you how to do it yourself!
Individual Tax Returns (Form 1040)
As a CPA, I am knowledgeable on tax codes. I have completed tax returns for many years, and in 2024, completed over 30 individual returns. This is an area of my business that I hope to grow in 2025 substantially. Let me be your tax pro!
